Fushun

Sarhu Scenic Area

The Sarhu Scenic Area in the eastern suburb o Fushun consists of eight scenic spots, such as Baqian Degu Bay, Mt. Gaoshan, Sarhu, Yingpan, Lotus Island, Marshal Forest, and Mt. Tiebei, with an area of 268 square kilometers. The man-made lake scenic area, the largest of its kind in Liaoning, occupies 110 square kilometers in area. Dahuofang Reservoir is the main scenic spot in this area. On the northern side of the lake area there is a graveyard known as the Marshal Forest, where Zhang Zuolin was buried.

The War Criminals Prison

Located in the Xinfu District, the War Criminals Prison is also known as the Liaodong No. 3 Prison, and covers an area of 40,000 square meters. In June 1950, it was reestablished as a prison for Chinese and foreign war criminals. More than 1,300 war criminals were imprisoned here, including Pu Yi, the last emperor of China, and his family members, war criminals of the War of Aggression against China, and the Kuomintang war criminals. It was renovated in 1987, with exhibition halls of the Reform of the Japanese War Criminals, and the Reform of Pu Yi, China's Last Emperor, as well as the living areas, the prison, and the work site.
