Shaoxing


Established 2,400 years ago, Shaoxing City in northeastern Zhejiang Province has an area of 7,901 square kilometers and a population of 4.2 million, and provides the most typical landscape in the region of rivers and lakes in south China.

Shaoxing has rich natural resources and produces many traditional famous brands, such as Shaoxinglaojiu, silk, green, and porcelain. It is also known for cultural activities, such as the International Calligraphy Festival, the grand sacrificial ceremony to Yu the Great, the Yellow- and Red-Wine festivals, and the Shicheng Cultural Festival.

Shaoxing is attractive for its beautiful landscape, zigzag stone bridges, felt caps, and covered boats. Traveling by boat and walking along the path of hills, one will enjoy peace and happiness in heaven. Tourist attractions in Shaoxing include Yuedu City, Mt. Huiji, Jianhu Lake Scenic Spot, and Keqiao Textile City.
