Lying half a kilometer southeast of Jiaxing City, South Lake was one of the meeting places of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. The 0.43 square-kilometer lake is long from south to north and narrow from east to west. There are two isles in the lake. The MiddleLake Isle has the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall and the Yanyu (Mist-and-Rain) Tower, and Lesser Yingzhou Isle has the Cangsheng Temple. South Lake in Jiaxing, West Lake in Hangzhou, and East Lake in Shaoxing are the three famous lakes it Zhejiang Province.
