Nestling at the foot of Taibai Mountain 20 kilometers southeast of Ningbo,
the imposing Tiantong Temple is one of the five principal temples of the
Chan Sect. Construction began during the Western Jin Dynasty(265-316).
There exist 730 bays of halls. Wangong Pool is in front of the temple,
Pipa Stone stands at the entrance, Linglong Rock is to the west, and the
Left Heavenly Boy and the tomb of Master Yi Xing, founder of the temple,
are to the east. |
