Convenient Transportation

Yunnan is linked to the national railway network by the Chengdu-Kunming and electrified Guiyang-Kunming railways. Airports have been built in Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Baoshan, Wanshi, Shaotong, Simao, and Xishuangbanna. The highways that radiate from Kunming to Qujing,Yuxi, Chuxiong,Dali and other cities have been converted into hith-grade expressways, and the province is operationg 50 domestic and international airlines. By 1999 Kunming Airport will be expanded into an international airport handling 10,000 passengers on an annual basis, and runnig a web of airlines reaching the major countries in southeast Asia. Passengers from Hong Kong,Singapore and Bangkok find it convenient to enter China by way of Kunming because of its central location in Asia. Two newly constructed highways conduct directly to the site of the exposition from downtown Kunming merely four kilmetres away.
