 Situated at an altitude of 1,894 metres, and with an average annual temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius, Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, is a tourist city renowned for its perennially pleasant weather, intriguing highland scenes and sithts, venerated history,and rich and varied ethnic folklore. The'99 lnternational Horticultural Exposition will resort, four kilometres from downtown,sprawls over an area of 218 hectares,76.7 percent of which is cocooned in luxuriant vegetation and 15 percent of which is occupied by water surfaces. With a heavily wooded, picture-perfect landscape, the Jindian Tourist Resort is an ideal venue for the international horticultural exposition. All the buildings and facilities for the exposition will be laid out according to the contours of the place,and grouped in a way to blend with the gardens and the landscape.
