The Pangquangou Nature Reserve

Situated in Jiaocheng and Fangshan counties, the Pangquangou Nature Reserve is a national reserve located some 100 kilometers from Taiyuan. It is famous as the habitat of the class-one protected brown cared pheasant. The pheasant is a rare fowl and is used as the mascot of the China Birds Association.

The Pangquangou Nature Reserve is the birthplace of northern China's deciduous forests. In addition there are many attractions, such as the Dragon spring waterfalls, ancient trees and pavilions, ancient tablets, Brush-Standing Mountain and the 40-Li-Horse-Racing Ground.
