Yongzhou

It is in the south of Hunan Province on the upper reaches of the Xiangjiang River, where it meets Xiaoshui River. Therefore, Yongzhou is sometimes called Xiaoxiang. It is a famous historical and cultural city of Hunan Province, attracting many distinguished persons since the Tang and Song dynasties. The natural scenery is also enchanting. Fifty km to the east of Yongzhou is Wuxi Forest of Tablets, the biggest one in Southern China. The major scenic spots here include the Memorial Temple of Liu Zongyuan, the Confucian Temple of Yongzhou, the Wuxi Forest of Tablets and the Jiuyishan Mountain.

Memorial Temple of Liu Zongyuan
It is found on Liuzi Street on the west banks of the Xiaoshui River. The Temple was built in 814 as a memorial to Liu Zongyuan, a famous writer and official of Yongzhou in the Tang Dynasty.


Wuxi Forest ofTablets
Found in Moyan on the west bank ofthe Xiangjiang River, about 2.5 km south of Qiyang County and over 50 km from Yongzhou. As the largest open tablet forest in southern China, it contains 482 pieces of preserved handwriting, drawing, poetry, prose and inscriptions from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. All of them have important historical and cultural value.
