World Horticulture Expo Park

From May 1 to October 31, 1999, the Chinese government hosted the World Horticulture Expo '99 whose theme is "Man and Nature-Marching Toward the 21st Century". This Category A1 event lasted 184 days. The World Horticultur Expo Park is open to tourists all year round as a key tourist attraction.

The park, located four kilometers from downtown Kunming in the Gold Hall Scenic Area, covers 218 hectares. It is ingeniously laid out so that various exhibition halls and spaces form an organic whole, setting off harmoniously with the mountains, forests and waters.

The World Horticulture Expo Park has five major halls (The China Hall, The Man and Nature Hall, Huge Greenhouse, Scientific and Technological Hall, and International Hall), three main outdoor exhibition areas , and the six theme gardens (The Bamboo Garden, The Vegetables, Melons and Fruits Garden, The Medicinal Herbs Garden, The Potted Landscape Garden, The Woods Garden, and The Tea Garden).
