Chinese Tea Drinking Ceremony


An exquisite tea set made of gold, silver, olive green porcelain and glass of 1,500 years ago were excavated at Famen temple in 1987. The set includes mortar and pestle for grinding tea leaves, pots, trays, bowls and saucer-proof of the fact that there existed a sophisticated formality of tea drinking among Chinese in ancient time.

Tea drinking may be traced back to the time of Shennong 2737 years before Christ. Later tea drinking was introduced to India and Europe by the Silk Road and also spread in the east to Japan.
