Aksu


Aksu is located on the northern edge on the Tarim Basin and to the southern side of the Heavenly Mountains. It adjoins Kirghizstan and Kazakhstan to the west and the Taklimakan Desert to the south. It is a main producer of fruits and melons in Xinjiang.

Spots of interest include the Kizil Grottoes, Kizilgah Beacon Tower, the ruins of Subashi and Qiuci, Kuqa Mosque and Tarim River.
