Tajiks

Most of the Tajiks live on the Pamirs. Their origin may be traced back to the early days when various tribes on eastern Pamirs spoke the east Iranian language, a branch of the Indo-European language system. The majority of the people are engaged in stock breeding, and some also take up farming.
