  • What's On: Three Pools Reflecting the Moon, and Autumn Moon on the Calm Lake are the famous spots in China for appreciating the bright moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Every year, Hangzhou holds the moon-appreciating activity titled "The Moon over West Lake Is More Bright,." which attracts a large number of overseas tourists. Cruising on West Lake at night, appreciating the bright moon at the Mid-Autumn Festival, eating delicious food with local flavour and enjoying the performance of acrobatics and folk musical instruments will make tourists enjoy so much as to forget to go home.

  • Venue: Xingtai City, Hebei Province.

  • Organizer: Xingtai Tourism Bureau.
  • What's On: Masters of Taijiquan (Chinese Boxing) will give performances and exchange opinions with each other, in addition to the exhibition of folk arts and the performance of Taipingdao music. Taijiquan is a part of the traditional Chinese culture, broad and profound. Dong Jiying, chairman of the International Dong Taijiquan Association and the third generation of the Chinese Dong Taijiquan, once won champion at the US Martial Arts Competition. Since 1998 Xingtai has done lots of work to discover the ancient root of Dong Taijiquan, and holds the China Xingtai International Dong Taijiquan Friendship Gathering once a year. During the occasion, many Taijiquan practitioners from more than 10 countries and regions, such as Western Europe, North America and Southeast Asia, will get together to exchange opinions on martial arts, seek for their roots and do sightseeing.

  • What's On: This festival is one of the largest celebrations for commemorating Confucius, a great ideologist, educator and the founder of the Confucian school. Qufu City holds commemorative activities from September 26 to October 10 at the Confucius Temple every year, totaling 15 days. The main activities include the inauguration ceremony, at which large-scale ancient music and dances to commemorate Confucius will be performed; large activities to offer sacrifices to Confucius by the people from all walks of life; large theatrical performances with the characteristics of the homeland

    Tidal bore-watching Festival by the Qiantang River

  • What's On: Qiantang River tidal bore is a wonder in the world. It is a tradition for the Chinese people from
  • all over the country to watch roaring and rushing tides by the Qiantang River, a magnificent spectacle that has driven awe into many a heart in this world indeed. The periods from the first day to the fifth day, and from the 15th day to the 20th day of the first lunar month are a good time for people to appreciate tidal bore from the Qiantang River. The 18th day of the eight lunar month is the best day to observe tides. On the day several tens of thousands of people gather by the Qiantang River to watch powerful tidal bore. Xiaoshan Mountain in Hangzhou and Yanguan in Haining, 45 km from Hangzhou, are ideal places for watching tidal bore in the Qiantang River.

    China Anshan Exhibition of Farmers' Paintings

  • What's On: The paintings by the farmers of Jinshan District are Shanghai's artistic wealth with folk lore
  • characteristics, originating from the traditional rural arts of the outskirts of Shanghai. Most painters are rural women good at doing embroidery and weaving cloth. By absorbing the arts of papercuts, embroidery and kitchen wall paintings and on the basis of their own lives and rich imaginations, they have created a large number of beautiful paintings. The exhibition will display their selected paintings from more than 50 townships.

    2002 China Zunyi International Teenagers' Acrobatics Festival

    Shanghai Sweet-scented Osmanthus Festival

    • Venue: Shanghai Guilin Park and Shanghai Kangjian Garden.

    • What's On: During the festival, people will fully enjoy the beautiful Guilin Park and Kangjian Garden, which are only one block apart, and pay visits to the park and garden, as well as a village, where tourists may do shopping at the fair.
