More than half a century ago, British writer James Hilton wrote a novel entitled Lost Horizon. In the book he tells a story: Because of an aviation accident, a plane was forced to land in a valley southwest of the Himalayas. For survival, several young men trekked a long distance. Later, directed by local people, they went to a place called "Shangri-La." It had snow-capped mountains, forests, gorges and lakes, and the beautiful scenery made people linger ...

The itinerary shown below from Day 1 to Day 12 is the major part of SHANGRI-LA trip. We have made some:

• A. Tour Itinerary:
  • Day 1 Guilin - Our local guide will meet you upon your arrival at the airport or train station and transfer you to the 5 star hotel for rest. The rest of the day, at leisure.

  • Day 2 Guilin (B, L) - Enjoy the first highlight of your trip: a 4-hour cruise on the Li River with its spectacular karst scenery and riverbank life. The 83km cruise ends at Yangshuo, a village with beautiful country scenery. After you spend some time in the fascinating local market, our guide will take you further into the country beyond the hills, which you have already seen during the cruise sailing. You can take our free transfer to the peaceful old villages or rent a bicycle to ride there. Return to Yangshuo for transfer back Guilin.

  • Day 3 Guilin/Kunming (B, L, D) - Take the flight for Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, a city with colorful 26 ethnic nationalities. Enjoy a local style dinner in the evening.

  • Day 4 Kunming/Dali (B, L) - Fly Dali in the morning. Tour to the Three Pagoda Temple, and enjoy the beautiful old town. In the evening, you will be superised to see those western styled bars while you wonder among the flat and old houses.

  • Day 5 Dali/Lijiang (B, L, D) - In the morning visit the local ethnic old residences. Then Transfer to a beautiful city Lijiang inhabited mainly by Naxi nationality.

  • Day 6 Lijiang (B, L, D) - Tour to the Black Dragon Pool and walk in the old town while our local guide tells the Folk Lore and the local legend. This town is one of the best preserved ancient towns in China. At night, enjoy a wonderful Naxi classical Music show.

  • Day 7 Lijiang/Yulong Snow Mountain (B, L, D) - Excursion to the Yulong Snow Mountain which is located 4000 meters above sea level. Visit the Baisha Mural and Temple.

  • Day 8 Lijiang / Shangri-la (B, L, D) - The exciting lifetime experience is in front of you. You are on the way to Shangri-la. En route visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge on the upstream of the Yangtze River, one of the deepest Gorges in the world. Arrive Shangri-la in the late afternoon.

  • Day 9 Shangri-la (B, L, D) - Today, we will visit the 300 year old Tibetan Monastery and tour to the Bita Lake. Visiting a local Tibetan family to see how their life look like adds more charm into today journey.

  • Day 10 Shangri-la/ Kunming (B, L, D) - Take the flight for to Kunming. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for rest. The rest of the day, at leisure.

  • Day 11 Kunming/Stone Forest excursion (B, L, D) - Full day excursion to the Stone Forest, a collection of limestone pillars, formed about 270 million years ago by the sea, rain and wind.

  • Day 12 Kunming (B) - Departure.

  Chinese Consulate no longer accepts mail in application. The single entry China tourist Visa fee is $75 per person. To apply for it please fill out the China Visa form, submit with your original valid passport and 1 recent picture. Using FedEx to mail your visa application is strongly suggested. We will mail you back the China visa and your passport via FedEx. Regular process takes 7- 10 working days. Express service is available upon request and additional fee.
